To be interviewed or involved in a sharing circle, you must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks following your second vaccination) OR you must have taken a negative COVID-19 test within the last 72 hours. Zoom interviews will still be taking place.
Seeking Maskwacis Elders and Community Members with Disabilities to Participate in a Research Study! Title of Research Project: Indigenous Disability Project • Nehiyaw/Cree Elder from Maskwacis Nation (inclusive of Maskwacis Nations); • Maskwacis Nation member working with disability/health; or • Maskwacis Nation member (children with guardian 0-13; youth aged 14-25; and adults) self-identifying as living with a disability And with: • Knowledge of Cree wellbeing and health Participation: You will be asked to participate in an online sharing circle (a set for Elders, a set for community members) to take place on Zoom or a one-on-one interview (those living with disabilities) to take place on Zoom. If you may also choose to engage in Photovoice, which is a data collection process where you take pictures of your daily life and caption the importance of the photo with your perspective (written caption). Time Requirement: Sharing circles and interviews will take place on Zoom for 1-3 hours. Other details: This is a community-driven research project, co-led by a Samson Cree Nation Councilor and an Anishinaabe researcher. This research study will be conducted in English; however, a Cree translator and/or ASL interpreter will be available for all aspects of the research project if requested. If you do not have access to a device that can access Zoom, or if you do not have access to a strong wifi connection, we can connect you with a device and/or wifi connectivity. Please note that participation is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will be given an honourarium per session.
